Garnier Aqua Defense (again) + review

New additions from Garnier Aqua Defense!

This time around, I bought the cleanser and essence and now, my Aqua Defense family is complete! lol...

Aqua Defense Family Portrait... :)

From the China website, there are actually 6 items, cleanser, toner, essence, gel-cream moisturizer, moisturizing fluid and eye cream. But what can be found locally are only the first 4 items.

After using the toner and gel-cream moisturizer for slightly more than a week (at night), I think that it is quite good, given that the prices of this Aqua Defense range are between $7.90 to $17.90. The toner is refreshing and leaves the skin cool but not the menthol-ly cool, which i dislike.

When poured onto the cotton pad, the toner does not evaporates fast, so I can use 1 side of the toner to wipe my skin and the other side to pat and prep my skin for the moisturizer.

As for the gel-cream moisturizer, when applied there is a slightly tingling sensation for like 3 - 5 seconds on my cheeks but for the other parts of my face its fine. I usually apply a thick goop (maybe about 20 cents coin) on my face and neck and then massage the moisturizer in. The last step is to warm my palms and put my palms on my face and neck to aid absorption (the Clarins method).

The gel-cream moisturizer is too rich for me to use during the day time (my t zone is an oil rig), but I didn't have any major breakouts, only one medium sized pimple... But is not hydrating enough for night use (I have combi-oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin), but i don't dare to apply any more moisturizer, so I bought the essence... hehehe...

I only tried the cleanser and essence once last night so I'll review those later... Between the 4 products, the fragrance are uniform, not overpowering and the smell really lifts my mood and makes me relax. :))

Elizabeth (Jap Brand)

I have been notti again... hehe... After reading a post from Lotus Palace on Elizabeth Nude Bonbon OL style Glosses, I was tempted into ordering the glosses myself! (I ordered a liquid eyeliner too!! lol)

The Nude Bonbon series offers 4 colors and I ordered 2 of them, #3 Rose Happiness (with pearl) and #4 Elegant Beige after reading the reviews from Lotus Palace.

I have always wanted to try beige lip glosses for a more natural lip color and hopefully this lip gloss will be the answer to it!

The eyeliner I bought is called Proofit Liquid Eyeliner 24h Waterproof & Sweatproof. After discovering liquid eyeliners, I find that they give my eyes more depth as compared to using pencil or gel eyeliner. The Etude House eyeliner I bought the other time was easy to use, stays on wonderfully until I yawned.... and immediately, I became a panda... =___=""

Hopefully, the Elizabeth liquid eyeliner is really 24h Waterproof & Sweatproof otherwise I really might give up on using liquid eyeliners completely..... I don't want to waste money trying to find THE liquid eyeliner and cause myself another heartache.... And not to mention, a waste of storage space........

Like always, I have yet to try these babies.... lol

Garnier Aqua Defense

Popped by Watsons on friday and was just browsing around when I saw these.......

Garnier Aqua Defense, toner and gel-cream moisturizer~!! ^-^

Was wanting to try this range since I saw it on the show 女人我最大 last month.

On the shelves, there was only 2 bottles of the moisturizer left and about 5-6 bottles of the toner and maybe around 10 cleanser.

Didn't really take note of the price, the toner was maybe slightly less than $10 and the moisturizer about $17, the prices are quite acceptable for me.

For the past 2 days, I have been using the 2 products faithfully and one thing for sure! I lurve the smell!! Apples!!!!

I need to use them for maybe another week or so before I can pass a final verdict but so far, it seems pretty ok for my skin. No breakouts (*cross fingers*) and my skin is happily hydrated.... ^-^

Mini hair-care haul

Yesterday, after getting off work from HPB (I was there because of the President Challenge thingy), I headed to Chinatown wanting to buy shampoo and conditioner. I actually hadn’t got any particular brand in mind, debating whether I should get the Asience Moisture Balance range or the Pantene Total Care range or maybe the Herbal Essences range…

Then, I spotted Vidal Sassoon Japan Diamond Shine set (the spokesperson is Namie Amuro, I like her!!) consisting of the Moisturizing Shampoo (500ml), Moisturizing Conditioner (500ml) and Treatment (100g) at only $23.90!!! I have been wanting to get my hands on these babies ever since I saw them on a Taiwan beauty show!! Immediately I knew that they will be going home with me!! LOL

This range is suitable for normal, dry or damaged hair types and boasts that it will give the hair a Liquid Diamond effect (hair will be as shiny as diamonds), Cashmere Feel effect (hair will be soft and smooth) and lastly, Amino Supply effect (hair will be moisturized and strong). [Translated from Mandarin]

I tried the shampoo and conditioner once yesterday and like it claimed, my hair became shinier, softer, smoother, moisturized and slightly straighter, slightly less frizzy, but it could be all due to my imagination... LOL!!

I really like how my hair looks and feels!! Two other things I like about them (so far) is the flowery fragrance (not too overpowering), which made it a joy to wash my hair, the scent also lingers on for a few hours after washing and also, although my hair feels moisturized, my scalp doesn’t feel oily!! My scalp feels oily sometimes after using Tsubaki (red colour range)...

Since I only used it once, I cannot confirm that it will work as it has claimed and whether the positive feelings I have for it today will continue. But for its price, it is quite a worthy buy.

Lastly, I bought a bottle of De Lorenzo Hair Moisturizer Intense for extra dry hair. On the bottle it stated that it is Australian made and owned, and the moisture factor is 8/10. I don’t really have very dry hair and could have gotten the Hair Moisturizer Revive for dry hair instead but the moisture factor is only 4/10…..

I have yet to try this out yet as I want to test drive with the Vidal Sassoon stuffs.

P/S Look forward to my Gmarket hauls! They should be reaching Singapore shores soon! *rubbing my hands in glee*

makeup ban

I said I was on a makeup ban didn't I??

Guess what? I broke it.. :x

Forgive me... I can't help it... I only bought 1 tiny eyeshadow palette from Etude House and 1 mascara from Jadilla J... That's all... No more makeup... The rest are just accessories..

For those who are happy that I broke my makeup ban, then you might be looking forward to my next post(s).. My loots might be arriving some time late this week or early next week, depending on how fast the sellers ship the products to Gmarket HQ...

Sidetrack... So happy today! My colleague loaned me her new The Body Shop Chirstmas eyeshadow palette to play with~!! So nice of her!! Muacks! Love her lots!

concealers

Initially, I wanted to blog about my morning skincare routine.. But being such a lazy person I am, I didn't want to dig my camera out to snap the pictures of the all bottles and tubes that I use.

Therefore, I decided to blog about another love of mine... For the past few months, its concealers... :)

(Above are the concealers that I use frequently or daily)

Those little white tags you see are the dates that I opened them for usage.. That's how I keep track of the expiry dates of my makeup! I have too many cosmetics, a bit hard to track..

Affordable undereye concealer from Canmake..

This has a strong orange undertone to cover up the dark eye circles and being creamy, its easy to spread... My only complain is that it isn't very long lasting... :(

The most expensive concealer I ever bought.. almost $50 if I don't remember wrongly....

Its from Kanebo Faircrea range... It has a very good coverage, the color matches me perfectly and it lasts the whole day... In the earlier part of the year, I used it as a liquid foundation.... I mix the conclear with my makeup base at the back of my hands and apply it with a latex sponge...

I find that it worked much better for me this way instead of using a "real" liquid foundation.. and the coverage is better without being mask-like.. Its a very good concealer!!

BUT... the downside is that the concealer finishes up very fast!!!!

Then I found a substitute for Kanebo Faircrea... Kanebo Kate's concealer... But as it is not as creamy as the Faircrea one, its hard for me to take out the concealer to mix...

There are 2 sticks above because when I bought the first one, the BA gave me the wrong shade.. So i had to go back and buy another shade that suites me better... I use the lighter shade (the wrong shade) to conceal my upper eye lids and the darker shade on my face in general.

This concealer is a bit hard but provides good coverage and its cost around $16. Not very considered expensive but slightly more expensive that my ZA concealer (see below).

Currently, for the past few months till now, I am no longer using the concealer mix with makeup base method...

This is another inexpensive concealer (I think around $8-$9), from Excel which is a Japanese brand. Its not sold in Singapore and I bought it online. Its a semi-creamy kinda of concealer, provides medium coverage. Its rather smooth, spreads and blends easily. :)

Now, for my current favourite concealer!!!

Easy to blend and spread.. Good coverage, affordable price... Usual price at $13 (I think..) and I bought mine when Watson's had the $3 off promo!

I pat thison with my fingers after my makeup base/sunblock to cover my blemish on my cheeks and the redness on the sides of my nose and then even out with a latex sponge. Then with what's left on the latex sponge, I just dab it on the rest of my face.

Then I use my Kate stick concealer to cover the more stubborn blemishes and dust some Kanebo Revue loose powder on my face. That's all for my base makeup :) I very seldom use my foundation now.. The poor thing is collecting dust in my drawer....

I do own some other conclears that are not "featured" in this post... But those are the "cold palace" concealers which I haven't touched for the past 4 months or more... soon to be thrown away after it expires...

That's all for today! Bye~~

flu again

I am down with flu so that explains the lack of updates and also basically, I have nothing to blog about since I am sticking to my makeup ban... But I did buy other non-makeup items though.. hehe..

On the brighter note, I won $50 Takashimaya vouchers at my company's annual Dinner & Dance (which I intent to spend on Paul & Joe in December) and also, I picked up some photoshop skills from youtube.. ^-^ I learnt how to whiten my teeth, smoothen my skin and .......... hehehe~~~
